The BEA IXIO-D is a dual-technology sensor combining microwave radar (Artek Inside) with active infrared curtains to both detect and protect automatic sliding doors. In continuous use since 2012, it handles all the core functions — opening detection, leading edge safety, and threshold protection — in a single overhead unit, making it one of the most complete sensor solutions available for sliding door installations.
The Artek radar inside the IXIO-D uses unidirectional detection, meaning the door only opens for people approaching it head-on. This reduces unwanted openings caused by cross-traffic and keeps the door closed longer, improving energy efficiency without any compromise on availability.
Safety is built around high-density active infrared curtains that form a 3D field around the door's leading edges and threshold. The field adapts reliably to different door configurations and remains stable across all weather and lighting conditions. Configuration is handled via a multilingual LCD screen, with visible infrared spots to aid curtain angle adjustment during setup. The IXIO-D supports both DT (test input) and DP (pulse) output versions to suit different controller types.
